PACKING LIST
This is an initial packing list that you can use to get started in your preparations. If significant changes are made to the list below, we will highlight those additions, and send out notifications. This list does not include bicycles, since not every young man needs to provide a bicycle. Instead, we will be reaching out to a portion of the young men to ensure we have a sufficient number of bikes, and then those will be shared across the different days of camp.
Also, please note that this packing list does not necessarily include gear and clothing that will be required for those young men participating in the overnight backpacking trip to Mt Madison. An additional list will go out to those young men and their parents in a subsequent communication.

Swimsuit (optional)2

1At least one short-sleeved shirt, the warm shirt or hoodie, at least one pair of shorts, and the long pants should not be cotton, because these clothes could be used for the hiking activity and/or the whitewater rafting activity, and cotton does not retain heat when it is wet and therefore can be dangerous in cold and wet weather. Non-cotton fabrics such as wool, nylon, polyester, or silk are okay.
2Water shoes or sandals with heel straps will be required for the whitewater rafting activity. Flip-flops or crocs are not allowed. The swimsuit could also potentially be used for whitewater rafting, depending on the weather.
3Bring eyewear retainers on the whitewater rafting activity if you need to wear glasses or sunglasses, so that you don’t lose them.

Pillow (optional, if you need it)

4The backpack and water container would be used for the hiking and biking activities in addition to other usage around the camp.
5The dry bag is optional, and would be needed only if there were any essentials you needed on the whitewater rafting trip that needed to be kept dry.
6A bicycle helmet will be required for those participating in one of the biking activities. If you do not have a bicycle helmet, there may be opportunities to simply share a helmet with someone else (as not all young men are biking on the same day); if this is something you would like to explore please contact Jason Walther at jwalther@gmail.com
