Q: What are the age requirements to attend camp?
A: Any young man who is turning 12–18 in the 2023 calendar year or older is eligible to attend Young Men's Camp.
Q: If my son is only going to be attending camp for part of the week, can we get a discount to only pay for the part of the week he is there?
A: All participants will need to pay for the full cost regardless of how long they are staying. We stronly encourage youth to attend the full week.
Q: What are sleeping accommodations like?
A: We will be camping in New Hampshire for three nights (Mon-Wed) and in Maine for one night (Thu). In both locations, youth and adults will be in tents. There are primitive toilets (latrines) within the NH campground, and portable toilets in the ME campground. At the NH campground, an adjacent campground (Dolly Copp) is within walking distance (0.5 miles) and has flushing toilets and coin-op showers.
Q: Who prepares the meals at camp?
A: Youth will be asked to assist in meal preparation and will be supervised and instructed by adults.
Q: I'm an adult and require a CPAP Machine to sleep. Will there be power outlets available for my machine?
A: No power outlets are available in camp.
Q: Can youth bring and setup their own tents?
A: We are currently doing an inventory of needed camping supplies. If you have a tent that you would like to bring that could potentially accommodate other young men, please contact Jason Walther at jwalther@gmail.com
Q: How many adults are needed for camp?
A: We will need at least one adult for every five young men at camp. This will likely translate to at least two adults from each unit in the stake. (Please note that adult volunteers are strongly encouraged to stay the full week at camp, as it will be a better experience for the youth to have a consistent set of adults attending camp. However, this is not an absolute requirement.)
Q: What skills do adult volunteers need?
A: Adults helping with activities do not necessarily need to have special skills. The Adult Registration Form contains a survey to determine which activities that the adults attending would feel comfortable participating in.
Q: I've completed Child and Youth Protection Training in the past. Do I need to go through the training again?
A: The C&YPT training is good for three years. Anyone who has completed the training after August 12, 2020 will not need to re-take the training for camp.
Q: Can my son bring either prescription medication or over the counter medication?
A: Yes, youth bringing medication to camp must follow the following criteria:
All medication must be given to the camp medic and administered by the camp medic
Over the counter medication must be brought to camp in new sealed container or blister pack.
Prescription medication must be in the bottle with participant name and prescription including dosage on the bottle.
The camp will not accept any medication to be administered outside of these criteria.
Q: What is the process going to be for registering the YM when they get to camp?
A: TBD
Q: What activities will be offered at Young Men's Camp?
A: You can find the list of activities to be offered at Young Men's Camp here.
